Southport is a busy resort which also acts as a regional shopping centre, not only for the 90,000 that live in the town but also as a destination for Merseyside and West Lancashire.
The town is an attractive and affluent resort which is home to many affluent retirees whose numbers are boosted by holidaymakers seeking a traditional English break or day visit with sun and sand.
A number of major events also take place in the town including the world-famous flower show and a very popular airshow. The dunes for which the town is famous make for some of the UK’s best links courses (including Royal Birkdale) and the area is known as the UK’s “Golf Coast”.
With attractive predominantly Victorian architecture shopping in Southport comprises a pleasing blend of large high street stores, boutiques and independent local shops interspersed with attractive cafes and pubs which afford it a great al fresco café culture.
MM Events Group’s speciality markets take place in Chapel Street, a pedestrianised shopping street which has many High Street retailers and is also the location of Southport Train Station.
